Foreign Minister of Maldives meets Dr. Li Ruohong

On January 6, 2017, H.E Mohamed Asim, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Maldives held a friendly meeting with Dr.Li Ruohong, president of China World Peace Foundation and Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation at Peninsula Hotel Beijing. 

Minister Mohamed Asim said that 2017 was the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Maldives, and the two countries have enjoyed a long history of friendly exchanges. The Maldives government has always attached importance to the friendly relations with china. H.E also expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Li Ruohong and the Foundation, and appreciated the great efforts by Dr. Li for in promoting China-Maldives ties over the years. He also wished that the friendly relations between the Foundation and the Embassy can be maintained so as to boost cooperation and implementation for specific projects.  

Dr. Li Ruohong said that Maldives is a vibrant archipelago country in the Indian Ocean, that he has been to Maldives many times enjoying hospitality by former Presidents and people of the country. In addition, the Foundation also keeps a sound cooperative relations with Maldives Embassy. 

As China is implementing Belt and Road initiative as a national strategy, the Foundation wishes to carry forward the international cooperation with Maldives, so as to make further contribution in culture, education, health, tourism and environmental protection between the two countries.
