China.com.cn/China Development Gateway: On September 21, the 4th Peace Garden Peace Festival was held in Beijing, with building People-to-People Bonds and Promoting Peace as its theme. The event was co-organized by China World Peace Foundation, Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation and UNESCO.

Sha Zukang, former Under-Secretary-General of the UN and a distinguished diplomat, said peace and security, economic and social development and the maintenance of basic human rights are the three pillars of the United Nations. As the basis of peace and human rights, development also holds the gold key to solving various issues faced by the human being. He points out that the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by the Chinese government and the supporting Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and Silk Road Fund are the largest international public goods offered by China to the whole world. The initiative, while providing a platform for win-win cooperation and joint development for countries around the world, is by no means a vehicle facilitating geopolitics, an idea harbored by some so-called friends.

Sha said we have never underestimated and will not underestimate the difficulty and complexity of the Belt and Road, a project of the century. We are also deeply convinced that the Belt and Road will definitely deliver a major contribution to the maintenance of world peace and the promotion of development.

The event, jointly undertaken by Beijing Peace Garden Museum, the Belt and Road official website of china.com.cn, the Belt and Road Special Fund, Canadian International School Beijing (CISB), GTC Technologies (Beijing) and Liaoning Sun Valley Ice Wine Co.,Ltd, was participated by diplomatic envoys from 100 countries, leaders of international organization, government and enterprise representatives and delegates from the youth generation.
