On January 14, Belt and Road International Exchange Meeting was held in Beijing. The meeting was jointly sponsored by China World Peace Foundation, Beijing Gansu Business Chamber of Commerce, Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation and www.china.com.cn. Ambassadors and embassy representatives from 11 countries including Pakistan, Morocco, Maldives, Tunisia, Venezuela and Singapore discussed the opportunity of cooperation with more than 20 Chinese company executives. During the meeting, the E Neng Fund was officially launched.
Li Ruohong, President of China World Peace Foundation, said the purpose of this activity is to provide an opportunity for ambassadors and Chinese entrepreneurs to make friends. In doing so, connectivity and benefits can be delivered to the people under the framework of the Belt and Road initiative, thus forming a community of shared destiny that incorporates diverse sectors.
Pakistani ambassador to China Masood Khalid said that there are currently more than 20 projects being implemented in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). At present, there are over 25,000 Chinese people working in Pakistan. The two sides will enjoy extensive space for cooperation in energy, ports and infrastructure. The ambassador believes that with the support from China and more favorable policy provided by the Pakistani government, the economic corridor between China and Pakistan will move forward along the established direction.
Mohammed Faisal, Maldives ambassador to China, said that China and Maldives have signed an official free trade agreement, which is an important measure for enriching the all-round friendly cooperative partnership between the two countries. It will vigorously promote greater development of bilateral economic and trade relations and continuously improve the well-being of businesses circle and the general public in both countries.
Dhia Khalid, Tunisian ambassador to China, said that compared with 2016, the number of Chinese visitors to Tunisia in 2017 more than tripled. He said that Tunisia has actively participated in the Belt and Road initiative from the very beginning and he hoped that through this platform more Chinese entrepreneurs will be attracted to Tunisia.
Gong Jianjun, Vice President of the Gansu Business Chamber of Commerce in Beijing said that by forging a direct contact with foreign government officials, Chinese entrepreneurs can find the obstacles and difficulties of going global so as to find a solution for the problem. He said the Belt and Road Initiative is a major opportunity for Chinese enterprises to go out and it will provide a new channel for the continuous integration and development for both SMEs and private enterprises.
On the meeting, E Neng Fund, a special fund jointly set up by China World Peace Foundation, E Neng Network and Beijing Aosheng Investment Management Co.,Ltd, was officially launched. The fund is to promote information sharing and technical and commercial cooperation in the field of energy, and to promote synergy between domestic and foreign enterprises. The fund will create more conducive environment for economic cooperation and development among all countries by establishing an energy information service data center and an one-stop commercial services and consulting platform.
