【News】Peace Garden Museum: Continuous poverty alleviation in Yangquan County

On 2020 August 17th, Peace Garden Museum donated 300 sets of 1200 children's popular science books series compiled by Dr. Li Ruohong, the curator of Peace Garden Museum, to Yangquan County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, a poverty alleviation counterpart of Beijing Chaoyang District. Affected by the epidemic, the donated popular science books will be sent to the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Yangquan County by the Chaoyang District Culture and Tourism Bureau.

 

In recent years, Peace Garden Museum have keep supporting poverty alleviation for Yangquan County. On 2019 May 30th, the international volunteers of Peace Garden Museum and Niuwangmiao Community’s “Help and Mutual Aid” team went to Yangquan County for investigate and condolences. Peace Garden Museum donated RMB 10,000 in cash for infrastructure construction in the village, 100 sets 400 books of popular science books for children, and 385 pieces of daily necessities. The international volunteers visited the five-guarantee households, newly built cattle farm and the Nihewan historical site in Yangyuan County. After visiting, they have gained a deeper understanding of the situation in Yangquan County, and also a clearer goal and direction for long-term support.

 

This year is a critical stage in China’s fight against poverty. During the epidemic, the international volunteers of Peace Garden Museum not only contributed to the realization of a well-off society in an all-round way, but also combined with the function of the Beijing International Exchange Center and cooperated with the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation to donated anti-epidemic materials to more than 30 countries.
