On the morning of May 31, on the occasion of Dr. Kissinger's 99th birthday, the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs held an online "Seminar on Kissinger and China US Relations ". Wang Yi, State Councilor and foreign minister, Li Ruohong, President of the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation, Qiu Yuanping,  former Executive Deputy Director (Minister) of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Leading Group of the CPC Central Committee, Amb, Cui Tiankai, former Chinese Ambassador to the US, Dr. Kissinger, Former US Secretary of State ,Robert Zoellick, former Governor of the World Bank and former US Deputy Secretary of State, Amb.,Stapleton Roy, former US Ambassador to China, and Dr. Richard Haass, President of the Council on Foreign Relations. attended the seminar .The panelists also answered quesitons from the audience. The panelists also answered quesitons from the audience. 

Foreign Minister Wangyi said in his video speech that the older generation of Chinese and American leaders broke the ice with their outstanding wisdom and opened a new era of peaceful development and friendship between China and the United States. The cooperation and development between China and the United States over the past 50 years have witnessed the vicissitudes of the century and a century of trials and tribulations. The pursuit of peaceful development is always on the way.

In his speech, Dr. Kissinger, Former US Secretary of State , thanked everyone for their blessings on his birthday. He recalled that when China and the United States established diplomatic relations, he mentioned to Premier Zhou that China was a mysterious country. When Premier Zhou asked him about the mystery of China, he couldn't answer at once. Therefore, Premier Zhou said that in the future, more exchanges and co-operations between China and the United States are needed to uncover this mystery. Over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States, the two sides have made great progress in eliminating mysterious differences; Although there are some problems in China US relations, the two sides should display their leadership, put their differences on the table, find a code of conduct for peaceful coexistence and set common positive goals. It is hoped that today's seminar will inspire the peaceful development of China US relations in a positive sense.

At the seminar, Dr. Li Ruohong, President of the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation, expressed his views on China US relations as follows: China and the United States should respect the historical origin, look at each other's shortcomings before cooperation, and look at each other's strengths after cooperation. The confrontation between the two great powers will affect the division of the international order. The resolution of contradictions in China US relations is conducive to the two peoples and world peace, and "peace +1" is an effective path. In the new era, China US relations need conceptual communication and credit cooperation, need new ideas in the balance of interests. China US relations also need NGOs to do something in the face-to-face talk between China and the United States in difficulties and globalization , need diplomatic philosophy to have warm, practical and sustainable exchanges.

At the end of the seminar, everyone expressed their expectation to meet again next year on the occasion of Dr. Kissinger's 100th birthday and continue to talk about China US cooperation and friendship.
