On May 16, 2025, on the occasion of the China Latin American and Caribbean Community Forum, the celebration of the 28th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Bahamas was held at the Peace Garden Museum in Beijing, showcasing the solidarity and friendship between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries along the Silk Road. H.E. Ms. Paulette Bethel , Ambassador of the Bahamas to China, H.E.Mr.Alfred Michael Sears, Minister of Immigration and National Insurance of the Bahamas, and Zhang Run, Director General of Latin America at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in their respective speeches, they reviewed the development of political and economic cooperation between China and Bahamas since the establishment of diplomatic relations, and thanked the Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation for its support. UN Coordinator in China, H.E.Mr.Siddharth Chatterjee, and over 20 ambassadors to China participated in the event and were interviewed by the television station.

After a cordial conversation between the Chairman of the China World Peace Foundation and H.E.Mr.Alfred Michael Sears, Minister of Immigration and National Insurance of the Bahamas, on promoting economic and cultural cooperation through people to people diplomacy, H.E.Mr.Alfred Michael Sears was awarded the Peace Ambassador Medal.
